Beginning Quilting: “House Hunting” Quilt

Bee designed this quilt several years ago, gifted away the original and happily made another one. It’s fast, fun and a great introduction to quilting. This is a beginning friendly class and ideal for anyone who wants to start or continue their quilting journey!

Learn to create your own “House Hunting” Quilt in three classes. Class 1 will be piecing; Class 2 will finish piecing and do the quilting; and Class 3 will be finishing (including binding, sleeves, and labels). Please note that Class 2 is four hours.

Skill Level: Beginner

Basic sewing knowledge is required and you must be comfortable with the operation of your machine.

This course will provide a detailed approach to multiple piecing techniques, and will focus on precision and cleanliness of your finished product. This cute little quilt (only about 22” x 22”) can be completed using whatever fabric scraps you desire - solids, blenders, prints - can have varied layouts, and can even be enhanced by some fusible appliqué. As well as the patch work piecing, the class will also spend time focusing on finishing your quilt including basting, quilting, binding and labeling.

Teacher: Bee Saunders

Bee is from a small town near Manchester, England, but in 2009, began a life-changing adventure with her husband that brought them to Santa Barbara. Since then, she has expanded her family, adopted a couple of cats, pursued her passions, improved my mental well-being, and launched her own business.

For over 15 years, Bee has been an avid sewist and quilter. She is passionate about creativity, color, pattern, and innovation, and she loves sharing that knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Her experience includes working in quilt shops, designing and running group and private sewing programs for children, teaching beginner quilting lessons to adults, and serving as President of the Coastal Quilters’ Guild.

Teaching and learning have always been at the core of her life. She’s passionate about helping both children and adults reach their full potential and empowering others to achieve their creative dreams. She’s learned through making mistakes, persistence, and commitment, and is eager to help inspire others on their own journeys.
