Beginning Quilting: “Convergence” Quilt

A convergence quilt is one make using a technique that involves cutting fabric into strips, sewing them together and then cutting and piecing them again and again. The term ‘convergence’ refers to the process of ‘coming together’. The technique was popularized by Ricky Tims, who wrote the book, “Ricky Tims’ Convergence Quilts” which includes examples, fabric suggestions and instructions. It is an easy, fun and creative quilt to make where the effect of fabric choices only becomes apparent as each step progresses.

Learn to create a beautiful “Convergence” Quilt in just three classes. Class 1 will be piecing; Class 2 will be quilting; and Class 3 will be finishing (including binding, sleeves, and labels).

Skill Level: Beginner

Basic sewing knowledge is required and you must be comfortable with the operation of your machine.

This course will provide a focus on the precision of your finished product. This cute little wall-hanging or lap quilt varies in size depending on the initial fabric size and the choice of setting and borders - there is so much potential for individual espression and it’s (almost) impossible to mess up! As well as the piecing, the class will also be spending time on finishing your quilt, including, basting, quilting, binding and labeling.
